October 19, 1974. 40 years ago, A&M Consolidated High School students revived the tradition of stuffing a phone booth. “This front-page photo from The Eagle, shows something we just don’t see around B/CS very often; not just the phone booth, but an A&M Consolidated student who is now a U.S. Congressman (Jeb Hensarling).” Photo caption: Now, who had the dime? Lorena Thomas looks on as Jeb Hensarling helps Carla Porter climb up to be the ninth person in the telephone booth. Although it wasn’t a record, it was part of the fun as the fifties returned to A&M Consolidated High School on Friday. Voted as the best dressed were junior Bill Leland and senior Abbie Van Doren.
